Moonlight Cake House @ Taman Sutera Utama, JB {PART 1}

Friday, 20 June 2014

Hello, I most certainly hope this post will make you drool - Because come on, it's food!!!! :D

So, few weeks back when few of us Ma Cherie girls met up for a food review with the courtesy of Tony Johor Kaki to try out a brand new menu set up by the Moonlight Cake House!

Moonlight Cake House
"Your favourite cake house in town"

As most JB people know this restaurant, it has six branches all over Johor Bahru and has been gradually expanding since the year 2007.
I remember it was a corner shop where I admire the cutesy of the tarts and cakes displayed in the fridge, but had never tried them.
Then of course, during lunch time, hanging out with friends, Moonlight Cake House has always been the ultimate choice, especially for students with a budget lol.

So, they came up with a brand new menu with mouth watering dishes!

PART ONE OF MOONLIGHT CAKE HOUSE
with affordable and cheap prices~

Let me introduce the chef behind all the amazing good food we ate that night, Zhao!
We were told that he used to work in various hotel restaurants, like Pan Pac Hotel and Blue Wave Hotel.
He has also 6 years of working experience O.O

Okay first of all, the very first dish that caught my eye was..

Cheesy Potato Wedges!
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
This is my ultimate favourite! The creamy cheese sauce made everyone went ♥.♥ instantly because it's CHEESE!!! And you know some they would've made the cheese taste too strong and you'll feel sick of it after eating a little. But the cheese sauce is at perfect ratio!
We finished this so fast and there was still cheese sauce left but the waitress took the plate away. Then Audrey went "Why she keep the plate?! I want the cheese!!!!" Hahahaha that's how good it is :3

And the second appetizer was..

Scallop with Capelin Roe - RM12.90
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
At first I thought to myself, otak-otak? Hahahaha. Noooooo.
It's actually fish eggs, like those you see on top of the sushi, then the scallops and onions inside.
Onions are added to get rid of the fishy taste.
The scallops were big in size, and it tasted so heavenly and I did not expect this!
I forgot to take picture of the scallop cause I was too busy eating. So fail. ._.

Here comes the main dishes!

As you can see, burgers and fries are the "trendy" food now, and of course they wouldn't miss out on the trend as well would they!

Bamboo Charcoal Crunchy Chicken Burger - RM12.90
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I'm not a big fan of charcoal bun (you know, those black coloured buns o_o) But this is definitely worth to try! The charcoal bun is really appetizing, with a generous amount of veges in between.
The fried chicken piece tasted so good with the rich mayonnaise sauce blends in so well with it! There's a nice garlic taste as well which made this dish so perfect :)

Next,
Honey BBQ Chicken with Fried Rice - RM11.90
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
If you're looking for lunch and you're craving for rice, this would be perfect for you!
The chicken that looks tiny bit like char siew here (100% halal okayy) is actually the BBQ and the honey sauce. It is sweet and savory, especially the sauce to drizzle on top of the fried rice.

Or if you want something soupy for lunch, you would love to try this!

Fried Sliced Fish Beehoon Soup - RM9.90
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Can you actually believe that it's only RM9.90 for such a big portion like this?!
The special thing about this dish is that, milky broth? Whutttt. The broth taste heavenly and it's not sickening at all.
The ingredients are ikan bilis, toman fish, milk, and "huang dou"!
The rich taste of the soup PLUS the freshness of the fish slices made this whole dish so exquisite!
This dish is highly recommended and definitely worth to try!

Orrrrrrr you want something more.. western?

Aglio Olio With Mushroom - RM12.90
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Yeah this is western I'm talking about.. Lol :3
I can say that I really love aglio olio, pastas, etc especially with cabonara sauce!
The chef was really generous with the mushrooms, the cheese topping and olive oil, the spaghetti was nicely cooked as well. :) I'm truly amazed that the mushrooms tasted divine!

Last but not least, the most commonly ordered type of food and the most practical one..

Grilled Chicken Chop with American Cheezy Sauce - RM19.90
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Do you see the cheesy sauce drizzled on the chicken fillet?!
Same sauce as the cheesy wedges I showed just now. Hehehe. This is definitely one of my fave dish! First of all, the chicken is tender and the grilled taste is awesome! Second of all, I love how they served it with the pasta AND salad! Pepper sauce was served as well, to accomodate to your liking. :)
For a price like this, it's worth it as it is a pretty big portion and to fill your tummy for the rest of the day! :)

This is not in the menu anymore but......
I love wa tan hor!!!!!
My absolute favourite but it is not in the menu anymore. So nice of the chef to make us one.
Hopefully it's back on the menu again in future. /:
